“What story is your life telling?”
This kind of generalization of the concept of a story drives me a little batty. Largely because it dilutes the power of story crafting – and the impact of the telling of a good story.
An intentionally crafted and shared story is such a powerful and beautiful creation.
The delight and staying power of a good story is unparalleled.
This kind of impact through story happens when we take time and energy to craft a compelling story. In this video, I talk about the essential elements of a good story then I share a story from my own life as an example to illustrate how these elements play out in a story.
Some key takeaways:
Essential elements of a story – the story arc:
- Set the scene
- Rising action
- Climax
- Resolution
As thought leaders, we use story in service of a greater mission. We choose a story to make a point, to illustrate our message in a kind of “living color” via storytelling.
We are specific and intentional with our stories – and they are always shared with our audience in mind.
I can’t wait to hear your stories! Share with me a time that someone has used stories in a good way or even a confusing one.
