MEET Michelle

You have a message within you that will change lives. And it’s time to get that into the world and make the difference you know you are meant to make.

Here’s the Truth
About Public Speaking

It’s not about the person on stage.

It’s about sharing the most honest, helpful, generous message possible with the audience.

It’s about serving.

This is what makes public speaking such a beautiful gift. And when you’re prepared with a thoughtful, high-impact talk that conveys the best of your experience and passion, you’ll know you have served your audience at the highest level.

Meet Michelle

Hi! I’m Michelle. My life’s work is helping people say “yes” to that inner tug and step into the leader they know they can be through speaking. In fact, I’ve devoted over thirty years of my life to the study and practice of public speaking: I’ve earned a Master’s degree in Speech Communication, a BA in Cognitive Psychology and hold a certification in Whole Person Coaching. After 10+ years of teaching public speaking at the college level, I decided to bring my services out of the classroom and into the hands of those who need it most. I’ve had the honor of helping over a thousand people, including C-suite leaders, award-winning company founders, and best-selling authors be successful in one of the bravest choices of their lives: sharing their truthful narratives for the benefit of others.

How I Came to This Work

I’ve been speaking publicly since I was a teenager, but I didn’t come by it naturally. I began speaking because a family tragedy left me feeling helpless, and I wanted a way to take meaningful action. I didn’t love the spotlight but I was willing to get on stage to help others live better lives. I wanted to make a difference in the world, and I saw that sharing my own stories – and the expertise and lessons I learned along the way – made an impact that mattered.

And I was hooked on making this impact. In fact, this fascination with public speaking lead me to later earn my Master’s Degree in Speech Communication and to teaching public speaking in colleges and Universities for over a decade.

But a few years ago, I had a moment of insight that changed my life and work forever. After years of working with speaking clients, I suddenly realized that I was completely stuck – paralyzed – in my own expression.

Here’s What Happened:

One morning, I woke up absolutely full of anxiety.

The day before, I was coaching a client who was working through her deep vulnerability of telling a powerful story, and I couldn’t get it out of my head. In those early morning hours, bleary from sleep yet full of anxiety, it took me a long time to figure out what was weighing so heavily on my heart and mind.

Until I remembered my final impassioned words the day before to my client, I said:

“Your story is going to serve so many people – it matters. You will save them so much pain and help them live the lives they are dreaming of by sharing all of your lessons learned. You can do this.”

Then it became clear…

I knew it was time for me to do my own deep work.

Dawn broke as I sat curled up in my orange velour chair, and I realized that the person who needed those words most was me.

I was the one most paralyzed by fear of publicly sharing my own stories and expertise, and that realization was one of my most profound experiences.

 See, Here’s the Thing:

My job is to encourage people to discover their deepest, most vulnerable truths, and then share that with the world over and over again. Yet, I felt paralyzed to share my own vulnerable stories and expertise. It was an awakening that I felt deep in my bones.

I knew it was time for a change.

I committed to doing whatever it took to release the fear that was stopping me from stepping into leadership with my message.

So, the next 8 months were ones of deep personal discovery, and it was one of the most rewarding journeys I’ve ever taken. I started to unravel years of deep-in-my-soul false beliefs that I didn’t have anything valuable to share, or worse, that I shouldn’t share.

I dove into my 20+ year collection of personal development resources and distilled them down to my own powerful fear-releasing practice.

And it worked.

It was intense personal work that changed my life and transformed how I coach others.

My coaching is all about supporting clients as they go through their own transformative experience as speakers and leaders.

And the results have been amazing.

I’ve worked with industry leaders who are afraid that their personal stories might impact their credibility. But together, we find the beautiful balance in sharing true stories that change lives, while tending to their own needs for privacy and care of their tender life experiences.

As a result of our work together, my clients trade uncertainty and hesitation for the joy of living their dream delivering captivating, room-moving talks.

My Clients Know My Work Best

Here’s what they have to say about working with me:

When I work with Michelle, I feel like I’m peeling back the layers of who I am as a person, in addition to creating an impactful talk. Her strategic advice and guidance has been invaluable. I trust Michelle implicitly.

Grace Kraaijvanger, The Hivery Founder

One might think that with years of public speaking under my belt, a coach wouldn’t make much impact – but boy did she.

She helped me sharpen the focus of my talk, structure the flow of the story, smooth out the rough parts and really bring the talk to life.

Beyond her impacts as a speaking professional, she also was my #1 cheerleader, which helped immensely. If you have an important message and you want it to be impactful and heard, Michelle is who you should call to make it so.
